Chemical Bonds Essay
First I am going to tell you about the ionic bond. An ionic bond, bonds a metal and a nonmetal. Also in the ionic bond and electron is transferred, making a positive ion and a negative ion. The ionic bond makes solids with strong bonds, that are very hard to melt. This bond also gains or loses an electron . For example the atom that takes the electron becomes a negative ion. Then the other atom loses an electron and becomes a positive ion. Finally it results in a repeating lattice pattern of ions. One example would be like salt (NACL).
Then I am going to tell you about the metallic bond. This bond, bonds a metal and metal. The metallic bond has an electron cloud around the atoms also known as the “Sea Of Electrons”. The atoms donate outside electrons to the whole group. They are a very good conductor of all states, lustrous, very high melting point. An example would be NA, FE,AL,AU and CO. To sum up the metallic
bond share their electrons.
Finally I am going to tell you about Covalent Bonds. Covalent Bonds are formed by the sharing of electron pairs. For example Water (H2O). Thus bond, bonds a metal and a nonmetal. Between non-metal the elemnts have the similar electronegativity. However they are not good conductors of any state.
